WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO SEE A GENERATION TRULY FOLLOWING JESUS?

This is the question at the heart of the movement of YOUTH MINISTRIES AUSTRALIA – we’re convinced that asking and answering this question will help a generation discover what it is to truly be human. Asking and answering this question also fuels us in the mission of our parent body to “build spiritual movements everywhere so that everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus.”

YMA was founded in 1979 by Bill and Faye Hodgson as the youth arm of Campus Crusade for Christ Australia (CCCA). From our beginning we have served the local church in equipping those with a ministry amongst youth in building Jesus-centred church and school based ministries.

We believe the whole story of God provides an emerging generation with the context they need in discerning their place in the mission of God.

We believe the life and ministry of Jesus, in the context of God’s story, provides us with a transferable model for our life and ministry. In Jesus we find essential movement principles for growing healthy disciple-making ministries.

“The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I have been doing. You can count on it.” – JESUS (John 14:12 – The Message)

The YMA movement strongly values PARTNERSHIP. We want to LEARN from and SERVE people, their ministries and networks to genuinely influence this generation for Jesus. In order to do so, we want everything we do to be done in the context of RELATIONSHIP – we are commited to going deeper and growing a supportive community of ministry peers.

Recently our National Ministry Leader, Dave Huddleston, announced that he would be transitioning into another department in CCCA at the beginning of 2012, leaving Trav Johnson (Adelaide), Shayne Hamilton (Sydney), and Matt Fricker (Perth) with the shared responsibility of leading the movement. Trav has been named as the next National Ministry Leader from the beginning of 2012 in order to facilitate a shared leadership model.
